attom ni cenedl y Cymry. Nid yn unig mae hyfryd sain yr Efengyl yn llenwi ein
gwlad ein hunain, ond hefyd clywir hyfrydlais yr Efengyl yn seinio yn ein
clustiau, yn ein hiaith ein hun yn yr hon y’n ganed ni, mewn gwledydd eraill
hefyd. Y mae yn Bilston a’i hardaloedd gannoedd o'n cydgenedl, ag y mae llawer o
honynt yn marw o eisiau gwybodaeth, yn trengu yngafael y pechodau ffiaidd o
feddw-dod, godineb, a hologiad sabbathau Duw. Ond darfu i’r Duw mawr, o'i ryfeddol ras, anfon ei Efengyl attynt yu eu
hiaith eu hunain er’s oddeutu tair blynydd bellach. Ond yr oedd yr achos yn
isel iawn yn eu plith; yr oeddynt heb eu huno âg un corph crefyddol yn
Nghymru. Ond danfonasaut eu cwyn at y Trefnyddion Calvinaidd i Gymru; a hwy a
wrandawsant arnynt, ac y maent wedi addaw anfon Gweinidogion attom, heblaw y
Pregethwyr sydd yn llafurio yn ein plith. Yr oedd y lle oedd gennym i addoli
yno yn fychan ac anghyfleus. Eithr ar y Sabbath y 29 o Hydref, 1837, cawsom y
fraint o gynnal cyfarfod i agor Capel cyfleus iawn, yn Heol yr Undeb, (Union

Y DRYSORFA (the
treasury) Number LXXXV January 1838 Book VIII Opening of Bilston
Chapel. Goodness is great,
and God's mercy towards us the nation of the Welsh is remarkable. Not only is
the pleasant sound of the Gospel filling our own country, but also the
pleasant voice of the Gospel is heard sounding in our ears, in our own
language into which we were born, also in other countries. In Bilston and the
areas around there are hundreds of our fellow-countrymen, and many of them
are dying of want of enlightenment (knowledge), dying in the grip of the
abominable sins of drunkenness, adultery, and the profanation of the God’s
Sabbaths. But great God, in
his wonderful grace, sent his Gospel to them in their own language some three
years ago now. But the case was very low among them; they had not joined with
any religious body in Wales. But they sent their complaint to the Calvinistic
Methodists in Wales; and these listened to them, and they have promised to
send Ministers to them, besides the Preachers who are working in our midst.
The place we had for worship there was small and inconvenient. But on the
Sabbath of 29 October 1837, we were very privileged to hold a meeting to open
a very convenient Chapel at Union Street, Bilston. |
