PENNOD 1

1:1 Gair yr ARGLWYDD yr hwn a ddaeth at Joel mab Pethuel.
1:1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel.

1:2 Gwrandewch hyn, chwi henuriaid; a rhoddwch glust, holl drigolion y wlad: a fu hyn yn eich dyddiau, neu yn nyddiau eich tadau?
1:2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers?

1:3 Mynegwch hyn i’ch plant, a’ch plant i’w plant hwythau, a’u plant hwythau i genhedlaeth arall.
1:3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.

1:4 Gweddill y lindys a fwytaodd y ceiliog rhedyn, a gweddill y ceiliog rhedyn a ddifaodd pryf y rhwd, a gweddill pryf y rhwd a ysodd y locust.
1:4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpillar eaten.

1:5 Deffrowch, feddwyr, ac wylwch; ac udwch, holl yfwyr gwin, am y gwin newydd; canys torrwyd ef oddi wrth eich min.
1:5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine, for it is cut off from your mouth.

1:6 Oherwydd cenhedlaeth gref annifeiriol a ddaeth i fyny ar fy nhir; dannedd llew yw ei dannedd, a childdannedd hen lew sydd iddi.
1:6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion.

1:7 Gosododd fy ngwinwydden yn ddifrod, a’m ffigysbren a ddirisglodd: gan ddinoethi dinoethodd hi, a thaflodd hi ymaith: ei changau a wynasant.
1:7 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.

1:8  Uda fel gwyry wedi ymwregysu mewn sachliain am briod ei hieuenctid.
1:8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.

1:9 Torrwyd oddi wrth dŷ yr ARGLWYDD yr offrwm bwyd, a’r offrwm diod: y mae yr offeiriaid, gweinidogion yr ARGLWYDD, yn galaru.
1:9 The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD’S ministers, mourn.

1:10 Difrodwyd y maes, y ddaear a alara; canys gwnaethpwyd difrod ar yr ŷd: sychodd y gwin newydd, llesgaodd yr olew.
1:10 The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth.

1:11 Cywilyddiwch, y llafurwyr, udwch, y gwinwyddwyr, am y gwenith, ac am yr haidd: canys darfu am gynhaeaf y maes.
1:11 Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished.

1:12 Gwywodd y winwydden, llesgaodd y ffigysbren, y pren pomgranad, y balmwydden hefyd, a’r afallen, a holl brennau y maes, a wywasant; am wywo llawenydd oddi wrth feibion dynion.
1:12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

1:13 Ymwregyswch a griddfenwch, chwi offeiriaid, udwch, weinidogion  yr allor; deuwch, weinidogion fy NUW, gorweddwch ar hyd y nos mewn sachliain; canys atelir oddi wrth dŷ eich DUW yr offrwm bwyd, a’r offrwm diod.
1:13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God.

1:14 Cysegrwch ympryd, gelwch gymanfa, cesglwch yr henuriaid, a holl drigolion y wlad, i dŷ yr ARGLWYDD eich DUW, a gwaeddwch ar yr ARGLWYDD,
1:14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD.

1:15 Och o’r diwrnod! canys dydd yr ARGLWYDD sydd yn agos, ac fel difrod oddi wrth yr Hollalluog y daw.
1:15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

1:16 Oni thorrwyd yng ngŵydd ein llygaid ni oddi wrth dŷ ein DUW, y bwyd, y llawenydd, a’r digrifwch?
1:16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

1:17 Pydrodd yr hadau dan eu priddellau, yr ysguboriau a anrheithiwyd, yr ydlan a fwriwyd i lawr; canys yr ŷd a wywodd.
1:17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

1:18 O o’r griddfan y mae yr anifeiliaid! y mae yn gyfyng ar y minteioedd gwartheg, am nad oes borfa iddynt; y diadellau defaid hefyd a anrheithiwyd.
1:18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

1:19 Arnat ti, ARGLWYDD, y llefaf, canys y  tân a ddifaodd borfeydd yr anialwch, y fflam a oddeithiodd holl brennau y maes.
1:19 O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

1:20 Anifeiliaid y maes hefyd sydd yn brefu arnat; canys sychodd y ffrydiau  dwfr, a’r tân a ysodd borfeydd yr anialwch.
1:20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

PENNOD 2

2:1 Cenwch yr utgorn yn Seion, a bloeddiwch ar fynydd fy sancteiddrwydd: dychryned holl breswylwyr y wlad; canys daeth dydd yr ARGLWYDD, canys y mae yn agos.
2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

2:2, Diwrnod tywyll du, diwrnod cymylog a niwlog, fel y wawr wedi ymwasgaru ar y mynyddoedd: pobl fawr a chryfion, ni bu eu bath erioed, ac ni bydd eilwaith ar eu hôl, hyd flynyddoedd cenhedlaeth a chenhedlaeth.
2:2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

2:3 O’u blaen y difa y tân, ac ar eu hôl y fflam; mae y wlad o’u blaen fel gardd baradwys, ac ar eu hôl yn ddiffeithwch anrheithiedig; a hefyd ni ddianc dim ganddynt.
2:3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

2:4 Yr olwg arnynt sydd megis golwg o feirch; ac fel marchogion, felly y rhedant.
2:4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

2:5 Megis sŵn cerbydau ar bennau y mynyddoedd y llamant, fel sŵn tân ysol yn difa y sofl, ac fel pobl gryfion wedi ymosod i ryfel.
2:5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

2:6 O’u blaen yr ofna y bobl; pob wyneb a gasgl barddu.
2:6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

2:7 Rhedant fel glewion, dringant y mur fel rhyfelwyr, a cherddant bob un yn ei ffordd ei hun, ac ni wyrant oddi ar eu llwybrau.
2:7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

2:8 Ni wthiant y naill y llall, cerddant bob un ei lwybr ei hun: ac er eu syrthio ar y cleddyf, nid archollir hwynt.
2:8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

2:9 Gwibiant ar hyd y ddinas; rhedant ar y mur, dringant i’r tai; ânt i mewn trwy y ffenestri fel lleidr.
2:9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

2:10 O’u blaen y crŷn y ddaear, y nefoedd a gynhyrfir; yr haul a’r lleuad a dywyllir, a’r sêr a ataliant eu llewyrch.
2:10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

2:11 A’r ARGLWYDD a rydd ei lef o flaen ei lu: canys mawr iawn yw ei wersyll ef: canys cryf yw yr hwn sydd yn gwneuthur ei air ef: oherwydd mawr yw dydd yr ARGLWYDD, ac ofnadwy iawn; a phwy a’i herys?
2:11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

2:12 Ond yr awr hon, medd yr ARGLWYDD, Dychwelwch ataf fi â’ch holl galon, ag ympryd hefyd, ac ag wylofain, ac â galar.
2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

2:13 A rhwygwch eich calon, ac nid eich dillad; ac ymchwelwch at yr ARGLWYDD eich DUW: oherwydd graslon a thrugarog yw efe, hwyrfrydig i ddigofaint, a mawr ei drugaredd, ac edifeiriol am ddrwg. [
2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

2:14 Pwy a ŵyr a dry efe, ac edifarhau, a gweddill bendith ar ei ôl, sef bwyd-offrwm a diod-offrwm i’r ARGLWYDD eich DUW?
2:14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

2:15 Cenwch utgorn yn Seion, cysegrwch ympryd, gelwch gymanfa:
2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

2:16 Cesglwch y bobl; cysegrwch y gynulleidfa: cynullwch yr henuriaid; cesglwch y plant, a’r rhai yn sugno bronnau: deued y priodfab allan o’i ystafell, a’r briodferch allan o ystafell ei gwely.
2:16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

2:17 Wyled yr offeiriaid, gweinidogion yr ARGLWYDD, rhwng y porth a’r allor, a dywedant, Arbed dy bobl, O ARGLWYDD, ac na ddyro dy etifeddiaeth i warth, i lywodraethu o’r cenhedloedd arnynt: paham y dywedent ymhlith y bobloedd, Pa le y mae eu DUW hwynt?
2:17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

2:18 Yna yr ARGLWYDD a eiddigedda am ei dir, ac a arbed ei bobl.
2:18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.

2:19 A’r ARGLWYDD a etyb, ac a ddywed wrth ei bobl, Wele fi yn anfon i chwi ŷd, a gwin, ac olew; a diwellir chwi ohono: ac ni wnaf chwi mwyach yn waradwydd ymysg y cenhedloedd.
2:19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:

2:20 Eithr bwriaf yn bell oddi wrthych y gogleddlu, a gyrraf ef i dir sych diffaith, a’i wyneb tua môr y dwyrain, a’i ben ôl tua’r mor eithaf; a’i ddrewi a gyfyd, a’i ddrycsawr a â i fyny, am iddo wneuthur mawrhydri.
2:20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.

2:21 Nac ofna di, ddaear; gorfoledda a llawenycha: canys yr ARGLWYDD a wna fawredd,
2:21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

2:22 Nac ofnwch, anifeiliaid y maes: canys tarddu y mae porfeydd yr anialwch; canys y pren a ddwg ei ffrwyth, y ffigysbren a’r winwydden a roddant eu cnwd.
2:22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.

2:23 Chwithau, plant Seion, gorfoleddwch, ac ymlawenhewch yn yr ARGLWYDD eich DUW: canys efe a roddes i chwi y cynnar law yn gymedrol, ac a wna i’r cynnar law a’r diweddar law ddisgyn i chwi yn y mis cyntaf.
2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

2:24 A’r ysguboriau a lenwir o ŷd, a’r gwin newydd a’r olew a â dros y llestri.
2:24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.

2:25 A mi a dalaf i chwi y blynyddoedd a ddifaodd y ceiliog rhedyn, pryf y rhwd, a’r locust, a’r lindys, fy llu mawr i, yr hwn a anfonais yn eich plith.
2:25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

2:26 Yna y bwytewch, gan fwyta ac ymddigoni; ac y moliennwch enw yr ARGLWYDD eich DUW, yr hwn a wnaeth a chwi yn rhyfedd: ac ni waradwyddir fy mhobl byth.
2:26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

2:27 A chewch wybod fy mod i yng nghanol Israel, ac mai myfi yw yr ARGLWYDD eich DUW, ac nid neb arall: a’m pobl nis gwaradwyddir byth.
2:27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

2:28 A bydd ar ôl hynny, y tywalltaf fy ysbryd ar bob cnawd; a’ch meibion a’ch merched a broffwydant, eich henuriaid a welant freuddwydion, eich gwŷr ieuainc a welant weledigaethau:
2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

2:29 Ac ar y gweision hefyd ac ar y morynion y tywalltaf fy ysbryd yn y dyddiau hynny.
2:29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

2:30 A gwnaf ryfeddodau yn y nefoedd; ac yn y ddaear, gwaed, a thân, a cholofnau mwg.
2:30
And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.

2:31 Yr haul a droir yn dywyllwch, a’r lleuad yn waed, o flaen dyfod mawr ac ofnadwy ddydd yr ARGLWYDD.
2:31
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

2:32 A bydd, yr achubir pob un a alwo ar enw yr ARGLWYDD: canys bydd ymwared, fel y dywedodd yr ARGLWYDD, ym mynydd Seion, ac yn Jerwsalem, ac yn y gweddillion a alwo yr ARGLWYDD.
2:32
And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

PENNOD 3

3:1 Canys wele, yn y dyddiau hynny, ac yn yr amser hwnnw, pan ddychwelwyf gaethiwed Jwda a Jerwsalem,
3:1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,

3:2 Casglaf hefyd yr holl genhedloedd, a dygaf hwynt i waered i ddyffryn Jehosaffat; a dadleuaf â hwynt yno dros fy mhobl, a’m hetifeddiaeth Israel, y rhai a wasgarasant hwy ymysg y cenhedloedd, a rhanasant fy nhir.
3:2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

3:3 Ac ar fy mhobl y bwriasant goelbrennau, a rhoddasant y bachgen er putain, a gwerthasant fachgennes er gwin, fel yr yfent.
3:3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

3:4 Tyrus hefyd a Sidon, a holl ardaloedd Palesteina, beth sydd i chwi a wneloch â mi? a delwch i mi y pwyth? ac os telwch i mi, buan iawn y dychwelaf eich tâl ar eich pen eich hunain;
3:4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompense? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompense upon your own head;

3:5 Am i chwi gymryd fy arian a’m haur, a dwyn i’ch temlau fy nhlysau dymunol.
3:5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:

3:6 Gwerthasoch hefyd feibion Jwda a meibion Jerwsalem i’r Groegiaid, i’w pellhau oddi wrth eu hardaloedd.
3:6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.

3:7 Wele, mi a’u codaf hwynt o’r lle y gwerthasoch hwynt iddo, ac a ddatroaf eich tâl ar eich pen eich hunain.
3:7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompense upon your own head:

3:8 A minnau a werthaf eich meibion a’ch merched i law meibion Jwda, a hwythau a’u gwerthant i’r Sabeaid, i genedl o bell; canys yr ARGLWYDD a lefarodd hyn.
3:8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.

3:9 Cyhoeddwch hyn ymysg y cenhedloedd, gosodwch ryfel, deffrowch y gwŷr cryfion, nesaed y gwŷr o ryfel, deuant i fyny.
3:9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:

3:10 Gyrrwch eich sychau yn gleddyfau, a’ch pladuriau yn waywffyn: dyweded y llesg, Cryf ydwyf.
3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

3:11 Ymgesglwch, a deuwch, y cenhedloedd o amgylch ogylch, ac ymgynullwch: yno disgyn, O ARGLWYDD, dy gedyrn.
3:11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.

3:12 Deffroed y cenhedloedd, a deuant i fyny i ddyffryn Jehosaffat: oherwydd yno yr eisteddaf i farnu yr holl genhedloedd r amgylch.
3:12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.

3:13 Rhowch i mewn y cryman; canys aeddfedodd y cynhaeaf: deuwch, ewch i waered; oherwydd y gwryf a lanwodd a’r gwasg-gafnau a aethant trosodd, am amlhau eu drygioni hwynt.
3:13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.

3:14 Torfeydd, torfeydd a fydd yng nglyn terfyniad: canys agos yw dydd yr ARGLWYDD yng nglyn terfyniad.
3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

3:15 Yr haul a’r lloer a dywyllant, a’r sêr a ataliant eu llewyrch.
3:15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

3:16 A’r ARGLWYDD a rua o Seion, ac a rydd ei lef o Jerwsalem; y nefoedd hefyd a’r ddaear a grynant: ond yr ARGLWYDD fydd gobaith ei bobl, a chadernid meibion Israel.
3:16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

3:17 Felly y cewch wybod mai myfi yw ARGLWYDD eich DUW, yn trigo yn Seion, fy mynydd sanctaidd: yna y bydd Jerwsalem yn sanctaidd, ac nid â dieithriaid trwyddi mwyach.
3:17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.

3:18 A’r dydd hwnnw y bydd i’r mynyddoedd ddefnynnu melyswin, a’r bryniau a lifeiriant o laeth, a holl ffynnon Jwda a redant gan ddwfr, a ffynnon a ddaw allan o dŷ yr ARGLWYDD, ac a ddyfrha ddyffryn Sittim.
3:18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

3:19 Yr Aifft a fydd anghyfannedd, ac Edom fydd anialwch anghyfanheddol, am y traha yn erbyn meibion Jwda, am iddynt dywallt gwaed gwirion yn eu tir hwynt.
3:19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

3:20 Eto Jwda a drig byth, a Jerwsalem o genhedlaeth i genhedlaeth.
3:20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.

3:21 Canys glanhaf waed y rhai nis glanheais: canys yr ARGLWYDD sydd yn trigo yn Seion.
3:21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.
